IMPORTANT NOTICE TO
VISITORS:
Thank you for visiting V-One. The V-One.tv project was
set up by Paul Carpenter and Sally Carpenter of Alchemy Productions and
Alchemy Creative Communications, and run between 2008 and 2010.
During this time, we provided arts development and performance
opportunities for young people in our local area (Thurrock).
Many young band members and individuals benefitted from professional
live shows and free professional media coverage, much of which you can
still view on this website.
Despite overwhelming success in its first two years, and being a truly
unique service, V-One did not receive enough support, recognition and
financial backing from its partners in the public sector to allow work
to continue.
The V-One website you are looking at remains intact here purely as a
demonstration of what was achieved and the young lives we touched.
We are very proud of everything V-One achieved and think it is great
proof that a little support and local funding can go a very long way.
We are terribly sorry that this wonderful project has come to an end and
wish the hundreds of young people we have helped, the best of luck for
the future.
Paul Carpenter, V-One
V-ONE has been
set up to offer an ongoing programme of arts and media-based events and
opportunities for young people in Thurrock and the
Thames Gateway area. We have been supported
by Thurrock Council Arts Team who have facilitated our development.
We set up V-One to give young
people from all backgrounds and of all abilities, the chance to gain
confidence, transferable skills and knowledge, in the hope that we can
make a genuine difference to their lives. We wanted to create a
supportive, professional, yet relaxed environment in which young people
can explore their ambitions and challenge themselves without fear of
being laughed at, heckled or told off. We do not drive our artists to
achieve perfection: We nurture and support them whilst they
explore their own potential at their own pace.
As well as providing a number of professional events at which young
people can perform, we also provide free professional video,
photographic and media coverage to all our performers. Coverage is
featured right here on our web TV channel, and also on social networking
sites, allowing users to share and promote their work. We believe
that there is currently no-one else offering these kind of amazing
benefits to young people on an ongoing basis.
Our most recent shows have been attracting large audiences made up of parents,
teachers, friends, family and general well-wishers, all of whom seem
delighted to witness the development of young talent before their very
eyes. If we can continue in this fine spirit, our young performers
will no doubt grow in skill and confidence which will enable them to
enhance their lives and make better critical choices, which is precisely
what we set out to achieve.
Developed and run by Paul and Sally Carpenter
of Alchemy Productions and Alchemy Creative Communications, V-One is
designed to meet the creative needs of our local community.
The project is funded by sponsors and
supporters and aims to
develop the talent and potential of young
performers and students interested in media skills.
The shows and opportunities we provide are available to local young
people from all backgrounds and levels of experience. We want to
promote, encourage and develop creative expression and confidence in
young people at a key stage in their personal development.
Whatever you're into: songwriting, performing, singing, composition, TV
presenting or media skills, V-One wants to hear from you. The goal is
to attract the biggest possible audiences, to provide free professional
media coverage and support for everyone taking part and to showcase new
talent as it emerges.
We provide professional film and photographic coverage of acts involved
in our shows and V-One performers and students are welcome to use the
work we produce to help promote the development their skills in a
crowded, competitive community. We believe our work can make a real
difference to young artists and do not charge young people for the media
services we provide.
We support many kinds of acts and musical performance
styles including rock, pop, acoustic, Hip Hop, rap, stage and musical,
Indie, jazz, funk, blues, instrumental, orchestral - pretty much
anything. Our shows are held in professional theatre environments
providing young people with an introduction to the challenges of
performing in a real live show environment. We are now actively
encouraging a broader range of acts to our regular 'V-One Live From
Thameside' show, including dancers, comedians, magicians and more.
V-One is
funded entirely by sponsors
who believe in the good work we are doing. Many of
our events are subsidised from arts development budgets and several
professional individuals supply their time, resources and skills at
no cost in order to develop the V-One project and improve
opportunities in youth arts. Please help us by supporting
our V-One project.
Please show your support by attending our shows and
by checking
back to this website for news of upcoming live shows, video workshops,
interviews, documentaries, media opportunities
and much more!
